Apparently, when one sees a unique photo opportunity present itself and, being in a position to take full advantage of same, proceeds to leap out of one's seat with slightly more alacrity than is one's wont while exclaiming unexpectedly, "Ooooo!! A bumble-bee!" one ought, in hindsight, to expect to be mocked by one's wife.
At least, more so than is her wont.
But I'm the one who can sit back smugly and claim to have captured an instant of Nature's precious union through a pane of glass marred with the grubby hand prints of a two year-old toddler and the grubbier nose prints of two dogs.
Besides which, I got to use the macro setting on my new camera to full effect for the first time.

There's a continually developing left-handed artist in you, Simon; a destabilising poetic element that's always willing to grab the wheel from the disciplined engineer driving the speed limit and prudently signaling all turns. An interesting whimsical mix. Whic reminds me in a round-about way of another Burns-ism: "A mathematician without religion is a probable character; and an irreligious poet is a monster."

(actually, I was complaining to a boyfriend once that I am terribly unphotogenic and he tried to reassure me by saying "well, some people are just so full of life and energy and enthusiasm that it's hard to capture all that on film". To which I replied, "So
what you're saying is that I'm really dog-ugly, but I'm movin' so fast, no one can tell!" :D )
