When I recently (ie - less than a week ago) made the allegedly spurious claim that we were going to perform some few renovations in the days between Christmas and new year's, there were a few naysayers rather intent on saying 'Nay'.
And I quote:
...needs his head examined. ;-)
DIY is for loonies ;-)
...hope you really don't have any other plans for the next few weekends :)
And my favourite:
...you overly optimistic numbskull... ;D
In return, unto you all do I quoth:
We started by painting the walls after the carpet and underlay had been ripped out. Seven months pregnant, my wife rolled the entire first coat after I'd cut in the edges. I finished up with the second coat after sufficient drying time.
Laminate flooring, with some timely assistance from Grumpy, was 80% complete Saturday afternoon. (Had to call it quits when Dex went down for his afternoon nap. Jigsaws and sleepy time are mutually exclusive.)
Job was wrapped up Sunday afternoon with all the flooring and brand new baseboards. It was my first experience with a backsaw and mitre box and, considering I have a pregnant wife in her third trimester, I thought my arms would be up to the task of cutting the baseboards like nobody's business; alas, they were still rather weak when all was said and done.
Sunday night had the boy's new bed assembled and he should be sleeping in there pretty darned quick. (There were five humans and two dogs in that room during bed assembly.)
For the rest, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

DURING
AFTER
READY FOR BED
Your boy gets to sleep in a palindrome. Now that's not something every kid gets to do.
Dang nice job on the flooring and the painting, by the way. You and the Mrs. may be the new DIY masters.

And so I recall you saying: "we've decided to strip the carpet out of two bedrooms, repaint one of them, fix the wallpaper border in the other, and then install laminate flooring in both"
Seems to me only one room was done, if pictures tell the truth. And what about that pesky wallpaper border? It'll be a return raspberry for you if you don't give proof of completion!

Oh please Paula... allow me some hypocrisy!
(But I am willing to accept raspberries.)

Hey, that's quite the collection of ghosts you've got there.
