Mostly just another post in pictures.
But before that, a couple more things that our son has taught us this weekend:
Once discovered, the gag reflex is a whole new toy unto itself. The boy accidently stuck his finger too far down his throat at the tail end of breakfast one morning, digging out something or other from the depths of his gums, and the resulting convulsive reflex was a delightful new experience! He spent the next couple minutes experimenting with the fascinating involuntary reaction. Try it! You'll like it!
Also, we have likened the same son to a dog in some of his eating habits. Currently lacking anything resembling molars, he will gum what soft food he can before swallowing. Anything firmer than, say, canned peaches has to be cut up almost small enough for him to swallow since he'll not waste too much time chewing.
Saturday night's dinner was tortellini and meat sauce. They're not quite small enough. Amy and I were caught right smack dab in the middle of angst and belly laughs as Declan would suck the sauce off his tortellini, gum it a few times and attempt to swallow. Gag. Gum it. Swallow? Gag. Gum it. Swallow? Gag. Gum it. SWALLOW!!
We're looking forward to when he can better masticate some of his food. (It's not like we're feeding him steak or anything just for entertainment value. We use lemon wedges if we want our son to entertain us at the dinner table.)

And by the way, we rented The Iron Giant to watch Saturday night. Never seen it before. I'm not giving anything away, but at the end, when the IG is flying and says, "I'm Superman..." I totally had to increase my rate of blinking by at least a factor of ten, lest my wife see an unwonted emotional outpouring. That movie fcukin' rox. I am so going to buy it.
And now a few pics before Monday.
Declan has started to make it a habit to eschew his shirts while in the house. On a fairly regular basis. We'll normally let him struggle his way out of them for a couple minutes before lending any aid. It's still really tough to get his own head out. Chippendales in the future?
Dex has also become rather fond of wearing helmets around the house. His current favourite is the small blue plastic mixing bowl from the low shelf in the kitchen. When that grows wearisome, the mini hard hat he got from my company's barbeque a couple months ago is a fine substitute.
(Hmmm. No shirts and wears helmets. Village People revivalist?)
Forgive me, Barber, for I have sinned. It has been two weeks since my last haircut.
Yes, this really does hurt as much as it looks like it did. Notice the maniacal glee on the boy's face.
He is E - ville.
LOL! My two year old just came over to see what I was chuckling at and seeing that last pic said "Baby Ouch" repeatedly. Yeah, Ditto.
ps. I love IG so much I have two copies of it. I was at the store and couldn't remember if we had it or not and, well, better safe than sorry!
