The Force works in mysterious ways

Funny how things somehow come together of their own volition at times...

It was just after 10 PM last night, Amy was out at a girlfriend's house (why do women have girlfriends and men have buddies?), but anyway, she was out and I had put the squirt to bed just after 9.

The phone rang, unusual for that time of night, and it was another of my wife's girlfriends.  But she had called to speak to me.  How fortuitous then that I was home.

She had been listening to the radio at home that day and heard a prompt to call in for an instant-win sort of thing.  So she did.  And she won.  Though she had no idea what she won.

The DJ told her that she had won two tickets to the May 18th premiere of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

"Oh.  Yeah?"

!?!?!

Both the DJ at the time, and then me when she explained what had happened were nearly flummoxed at the degree to which this woman was underwhelmed.  But due to her heightened state of underwhelmedness, she offered me the other ticket so I could go see it with her husband.

SCORE!!

So Wednesday night, May 18th, I'll be watching Sith with a theatre full of slavering first night fans.  And thanks to the tickets, I even get a free dinner at Burger King beforehand.  Not that my appetite needs whetting.  Yeah baby...

I do this all without assuming the mantle of guilt one might think I should burden myself with considering that my beautiful wife won't be attending with me.  Such are the sacrifices that must be made when walking the path that I do.
