Tonight's the night. Though it almost wasn't.
Found out yesterday evening that the tickets I'll be sharing for this evening's premiere of Sith are for a show starting at 7 PM. I was expecting midnight. My wife is working this evening, and though my son is exhibiting an ever-increasing level of independence, I don't want to leave him home alone for four to five hours at a time. Maybe half an hour... max.
So the Frasers were sent scrambling for the logistics that would accommodate all plans for the evening. Here's what we finally worked out:
4 PM - Simon arrives home from work.
4.30 - Amy leaves to work for the evening.
5.20 - Neighbour guy gets home from work.
5.21 - Simon abandon's boy-child with neighbour.
5.21.1 - Simon peels out to theatre to stand in line for 7 PM show.
6.00 - Granny gets off work.
6.20 - Granny grabs boy from neighbour, feeds him dinner.
Undetermined Time - Grandma Farley arrives in Edmonton to dog-sit for 10 days. Meets Granny at Fraser house and talks about whatever it is that grandmothers talk about. Bifocals or whatever.
10.00(ish) - Simon returns home a blubbering idiot from having had a cinematic orgasm.
10.00(ish-ish) - Amy returns home and is forced to bear witness to husband's blubbering.
Thursday - Highly unproductive day at work for Simon due to residual cinematic orgasmic after-effects combined with distraction of having to pack for vacation to Ontario that evening.
Ah Star Wars...
My heart is Palpatining and I'm too excited to Chewie my morning muffin. Perhaps I'd better go for an Ewok down the hall for a coffee. Knowing me, I'd get all distracted, trip, Gonk my head and Lando on my face. I'd have to Leia there until I recovered my balance. Too much coffee though and I'll be running to take a Piett every half hour. My Bossk might get suspicious, seeing all that activity. I'd be Forced to Jabba him in the kidney so I can leave early today. Leave so I can, you know, go see a movie, stuff my Boussh with popcorn, sip on some strange Beru and figure out how to repay the debt I'm obviously Owen to the friend that got me the ticket. It's a fairly Lars debt, from my point of view. I don't know Watto I'll do to repay the kindness. I certainly don't Han to just do nothing and appear all Greedo. It was a stroke of good Fortuna that I get to go at all.
Man I'm looking forward to this...
Touche! You win that round. *ding ding*. GREAT POST!
