And on the fitness front, I was at the gym this morning for the fourth day in a row! (Yay me!)
5 AM is becoming less and less of a stranger to me and I've not hit the snooze button more than once all week. It's just the first 30 seconds or so that are hard.
Stumble out from under the wonderfully warm embrace of the duvet (and wife), fumble at the stack of clothes laid out on the bench at the foot of the bed, meander down the short hall to the bathroom (peaking into the nursery on the way by) and reel back in most Gollum-like fashion when the light gets switched on. (It burns our eyes, Precious!) A few blinking moments allow a modicum of alertness and resignation to set it, then it's only about twelve more minutes before I'm in the locker room at the Sturgeon Valley Athletic Club.
My legs are finally starting to feel almost normal again. I'm getting into the habit of doing weights on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, with running on all other days of the week. Except probably Sunday. That is the Lord's day.
But back to my legs. Doing squats and the plated leg-press on Monday left me with a slight burning sensation that was alarmingly aggravated by a 45-minute run on Tuesday. It wasn't that I didn't want to pick up my son when he came galloping across the floor to see me that evening; it's just that it was so bloody hard!
And I love the scale at the gym. This morning, according to it, I was a scant 155 pounds. I think it's almost 40 pounds off, but I won't tell if you won't.
