So my outlaws pulled up in our driveway on Tuesday. They're here to wish us a Merry Christmas and all that jazz. But really, they're mostly here to spend some quality time with their grandson; they don't get to see him all that often, so want to indulge when they get the chance. They do live five hours south of us.
Just as soon as they pulled up Tuesday evening, grandpa started complaining of flu symptoms. Which isn't really all that bad. With him laid up on the sofa, he now only takes the opportunity to belly-ache about his belly ache, instead of the rather more vociferous persona he normally exudes.
I've never minded Amy's folks coming to spend some time with us since she always gets tired of them before I do. So I come off looking more like the dutiful son-in-law. That's not entirely fair. She gets tired of her dad first. He had an esophageal surgery some years ago, and I'm fairly certain that they accidentally removed whatever tact filter he may have had in place. Delightful man, otherwise.
And after I got home from working late yesterday, grandpa was on the couch and I was playing with our boy on the floor. In walks my darling wife, returning home from shopping with her mom. (Is there anything that moms and daughters do better together than shop?) "Guess who else has the flu, now?" Her mom.
So now we have a house with two grandparents outdoing the infant in terms of fecal fecundity and oral emissions. (Perhaps I'm starting to share just a little too much on this site...)
Shit.
This does not bode well for a carefree 30th birthday celebration (especially if you, Amy or Declan get it too!) Remember, frequent hand washings!

And further to my last p.s., the clock is 6 hours ahead your time in the preview post area.

I noted the same problem when previewing comment posts. When I view the comment though, it shows up at the correct time: 8.49AM Mountain.
