Well, Christmas has come and gone and the amount of free space in our house has been reduced by the volume of presents that our infant son received. Too bad that he seemed more enthralled by the crinkly blue recycling bag full of ripped wrapping paper than with any of the presents that had previously been enclosed in same.
For a brief pictorial history of Declan's first Christmas, check out the new photo album I've posted over there on the right, aptly titled: Declan's 1st Christmas.
My coolest present this year came from my Mom-in-law: an MP3 player. It is almost the exact size of the last two joints of my thumb, holds 128 MB (about 2 hours of music), tunes in to FM stations and, in a crunch, can double as a USB memory storage device. To quote The Tick: "NEAT!!" Now I'll be taking my laptop home for the rest of the week to rip as many of my CDs as I can...
If I don't talk to you any sooner, have a happy and joyous new year!
The next most anticipated holiday:
Robbie Burns' Night!!
Where there is an overabundance of scotch, haggis and kilts, a noted paucity of undergarments, and where the following quote from a favourite book is terribly appropriate:
Then a desolate, mammoth, mourning Troll inflated its lungs and uttered. Through the shocked air tore a stern, snoring shriek followed by another. It became a united bray; the bray a wobble; the wobble a tune. High above the gallery balustrade swam a human head, inhumanly antennaed; the cheeks plimmed, the eyes closed, the fingers leaped, and all audible hell released itself.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm technically off all this week and really shouldn't be in the office right now. So I'm going to do the minimum of what needs doing and then go back home to my family.
My God, it's full of cute.
