This is coming a day late, but yesterday was my step-dad's birthday. We had some spice cake with 
coffee icing (his favourite) on Thanksgiving Sunday to celebrate. Amy and I left a birthday message for him on the phone wishing him well, Declan being a little reticent. He just breathed hard at the phone as we were leaving the message. And tried to get it into his mouth, which is all he does with anything that comes his way these days.
