Well, I've spent some time this morning adding some formatting to the new site and can now rest a little more contented in having it look a little more like I wanted it.
Most importantly, I've added the first photo album of my little boy. I'll be adding plenty more pics as time goes by here.
There's also a wishlist of books that I'm craving to read. Seems almost silly to have it up there since the afore-mentioned boy was born I've had scant time to open a book. Still, it's good to aspire to certain things.
And a short shopping list of places I visit on the web on a daily basis.
Hopefully the poignancy of my posts here will increase as time goes on.
Well I'm up 2 books on you from your reading list already....Don Quixote and Moby Dick.
Moby Dick is ok, a few good quotes from it (the ones used in Star Trek II of course), but can be rather long and seemingly pointless at times (unless you take it in a University English class like I did and have everything pointed out to you...but they still seemed pointless to me anyway! :) )
As for Don Quixote...quite a good book in my mind. I was actually really surprised by how it read (it seemed like something that could have been written today) but is in fact possibly the oldest novel in the world and a good 5 centuries old (maybe the translation had something to do with that, but I read a early 1900s transalation so that rules out some of the modern-day feeling at least). It can be silly at times but still quite enjoyable.
The other books on your list I'm itching to read are the Iliad and the Odyssey, as well as The Once and Future King. I've almost bought the last one on numerous occasions but the pile of books I have on my shelf everytime has stopped me.
Amongst the current ones on my shelf: A Game of Thrones; The Elric of Melnibone Saga by Michael Moorcock; Gardens of the Moon by Steven Erikson; a bunch of Tom Clancy hardcovers dating back to Executive Orders (all purchased for $6 or less from the bargin bin); about 10 D&D novels; and 3 Star Wars: New Jedi Order novels. I'm currently reading Dalamar The Dark (From the 'Classics' Dragonlance Series)...but I'm struggling to get through it even though Dalamar is one of my favourite characters from DL.
Anyway, It's 4:44AM now so I think I'll go to bed. Night!
